Notes From The Road #2
August 8th 2013
In Notes from the Road #1 we were leaving to appear at The Pritzker Pavillion in Chicago. What a beautiful venue! We appeared and did a medley of songs representing We Will Rock You. The performance was really well received and we can’t wait to get back to play our own show in Chicago.
The arrangements for leaving Chicago were time critical.....
We left stage at 6.50pm and needed to be at Chicago O’Hare airport for a 9pm flight to Canada. Anyone who knows Chicago traffic will realise we didn’t have a lot of time! The promoter had arranged an escort to get our bus there.
The only way I can describe it is to compare our ride to something out of Dukes of Hazard! We ran red lights all the way through the city traffic and then were faced with a gridlocked interstate... So we drove on the shoulder and rumble strip all the way touching speeds that were just scary!
Needless to say, we got there in record time and caught our flight with no hitches. A very exciting end to an amazing day.
We got to Quebec City via Montreal at 5.30am and the band rested until sound check at 5pm. Unfortunately our crew were faced with a 9am load-in, but they are true professionals and carry out a great shift shift to get us ready for our first show back in Quebec City.
The first show back was amazing and we are so grateful for all the Queen Extravaganza fans who have bought tickets to our 20 shows here.

WEDDING PROPOSAL AT OPENING QUEBEC SHOW!
August 7th 2013
While the band was in the lobby meeting with fans after the opening night show in Quebec City, a young man whispered something to Marc and suddenly Marc begins to sing Somebody To Love, as the man drops to one knee, pulls out a ring and proposes to his girlfriend.
Through shocked tears, she says YES!

THE QUEEN EXTRAVAGANZA MORE DATES ADDED TO FIRST EVER UK TOUR DUE TO PHENOMENAL DEMAND
**Additional tickets go on sale at 9am on Friday 9th August via www.seetickets.com**
Following the resounding success of its North American tour and an outstanding reaction to the announcement of the first ever UK tour, The Queen Extravaganza has added five new shows across the UK to include dates in Reading, Worthing, Bath, Manchester and Bristol (full tour dates below). Ticket details for all dates are available from www.queenextravaganza.com with the extra dates going on sale from Friday 9th August at 9am.
The official Queen tribute show, put together by Roger Taylor and Brian May, is a spectacular touring concert show designed to take the glorious music and live experience of legendary rock band Queen and bring it to generations of fans.
Taylor himself hand picked the band members (vocalists Marc Martel and Jennifer Espinoza; guitarist Brian Gresh; drummer Tyler Warren; bassist Francois-Olivier Doyon; and keyboardist and musical director Brandon Ethridge) from thousands of auditionees during a unique online talent search with video submissions generating more than 10 million views from around the globe.
Taylor says: “The Queen Extravaganza is a brand new show specially designed to enable new fans, together with fans of old, to celebrate the music of Queen in a heart-stopping event. It’s very spectacular, and I think people will be truly shocked and amazed at the level of vocal and instrumental performance from these brilliant musicians! When Marc Martel sings it sounds as if Freddie has entered the room.”
Marc Martel of the band said: "We have been overwhelmed by the fan response to our first ever UK tour and so excited that more dates have been added - we can't wait to meet our UK fans!"
The 90-minute show, which kicks off in Southampton on 25th October and tours the UK for a massive 15 dates across the country, features Queen’s classic hits and some surprises for the true fans.
Capturing the fabled design and excitement of Queen’s legendary live performances, the late great Mark Fisher created the staging and production elements for The Queen Extravaganza. The production will be enhanced with rare video footage from Queen’s extensive archives and newly-created imagery.
Giving fans the unique opportunity to experience the thrill of Queen’s live show with outstanding musicianship, stunning visuals and a spine tingling vocal performance from the awesome talent of Marc Martel, this debut UK tour from The Queen Extravaganza is set to deliver one of the best musical experiences of the year.

Notes From The Road #1
August 5th 2013
We landed in Chicago a few days ago for Production and Band rehearsals for the upcoming Queen Extravaganza tour starting in Quebec City on Tuesday 6th August.
There were a couple of reasons for being in Chicago; Firstly to rehearse the band and also to settle in some of our new crew. Queen Extravaganza is a family of professionals, of which the audience only get to see the band on stage. The others make it all come together and create the show for the band to produce their magic. The other reason was that our lighting company are based near Chicago and have world class rehearsal facilities to prepare our lighting and video components for the show. to give you an idea of just how good these facilities are let me name drop for a second....Other bands who prepare their lighting and video content here include The Rolling Stones, Black Sabbath, Beyonce and so on...
This leg of the tour sees some old and new faces return. We have Nick Ohl returning as the ever talented Guitar Tech looking after the lead guitars of Brian and bass guitar of Francois-Olivier. Nick has been with Queen Extravaganza from the beginning!
Joining us on stage right is Willie Cole who looks after Tyler Warren on drums and Brandon on keyboards. Willie’s career prior to joining us has been littered with well known names, not least Guns n Roses!
Our Monitor Engineer is Mikey Gibbard who joins us from the UK having just completed tours with Slayer and Marina and the Diamonds. Mikey is responsible for delivering what each band member hears in their IEMs (In Ear Monitors).
The Front of House Engineer is John JR Robbins who also joins us with a glittering, star studded CV which includes Prince, John Mellancamp and Steely Dan and Seal. JR is a self confessed Queen fan and jumped at the chance of working with us.
Rejoining us in video and lighting world is Wayne Kwiat who we have had to reclaim from One Direction and previously Coldplay. Wayne is assisted by Steve Wojda and Mike Walker.
Helping me bring everything together is Mark Powell as our Stage Manager and Lighting Director. Mark is another Brit and is now based in the USA. Mark has previously worked on a Queen tour in 2006 and looks to be with us for the foreseeable future!
Finally, we have been honoured with the presence of Juliette Slater, Queen’s Tour Director, whilst we have been in Chicago, who kindly shared with us her expertise before jetting back to look after Queen + Adam Lambert’s performance in Las Vegas at iHeart in September.
So, we’re set for our first performance, which you won’t find on the tour schedule. We are appearing at The Millenium Park in Chicago representing We Will Rock You and needless to say Queen’s music to help promote the WWRY North America tour.
